Excellent Dr. He is a wonderful surgeon, but surgery is not the first path for recovery he seeks ( if possible) for his patients. He looks for the least invasive path for recovery. If surgery is required, he takes time to provide each patient the attention and time required. I was astounded to hear to hear his voice on a Sat. morning the day after my outpatient surgery, asking me how I was doing. He is truly a caring and amazing surgeon!

I work in neuromonitoring and am in the OR with many spine surgeons. Dr. Shibayama is BY FAR the best surgeon I have ever worked with. He is technically superb and performs his surgeries very thoroughly and in much less time than other surgeons. He is the only surgeon that I know who does minimally invasive surgery very well. He always treats the OR staff with the utmost respect and he is impeccably professional. He prays with all his patients before surgery. I would highly recommend him!

I would recommend (and have) Dr. Shibayama to anyone with spine issues. I had an old injury to the lumbar spine that required surgery – after recovering, I was better than I had been in years and able to walk and exercise again. Then several months later, while exercising, I had another injury only this time in the cervical spine. Outpatient surgery had me back up and running in just a couple of weeks. He was recommended by my chiropractor – something that is rarely done!

About 2 years ago I started having back pain and numbness down my right leg. I was scared to death. I went and saw Dr. Shibayama and the first thing I told him was I will not have back surgery. I tried 2 ESI’s and they did not work. So I decided to go ahead and have back surgery. I am so glad I did. With my back surgery I only missed one week of work and then I worked half days the next week. I am very active and I feel great. Dr. Shibayama is a wonder doctor. I highly recommend him.

I have had several issues with my lower back, and Dr.Shibayama is by far the best around. Knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. He doesn’t rush to do surgery until he has exhausted all other avenues or until he feels that is the only solution. He has performed surgery on my step-daughter, which is an RN peds nurse on her feet 12hr days. She has had ZERO issues since that surgery which was four years ago. I highly recommend Dr.Shibayama.

Dr. Shibayama has been a godsend to me. I was diagnosed with a herniated disc and sciatic. I was in so much pain when I had my first visit. He reassured me that he was going to help me, and he did. I had 2 epidural injections and when that didn’t alleviate my pain, I had surgery. I am happy to say that I am pain free now and owe that to Dr. Shibayama. He is the best! I recommend him to anyone suffering with back pain. He is very compassionate and will take very good care of you.

My cervical fusion surgery relieved the pain I had experienced for months. Two days after surgery I knew I was better. The pain and numbness were gone. I was very impressed with Dr. Shibayama’s care and concern. On top of praying with me before surgery he called multiple times after surgery (personally) to check on my progress. I feel confident recommending him to others.

I was a patient that Dr. Shibayama performed a microdiscectomy L5-S1 in December of 2016 . Woke up with complete relief from pain that I had endured for over a year. Completely back to normal living, with no pain.

Dr. Shibayama is the best orthopedic surgeon in Tennessee he’s very attentive ask questions and actually puts in the time and effort to take the absolute best course of action necessary to get you back on track. I’m currently going thru a few issues and unlike every other doctor I’ve seen he’s never dismissed any concerns or issues I’ve had. So I highly recommend him to anyone that’s finds themselves in need of medical care in his profession.

Dr S. listens intently to the patient, does thorough evaluations, and discusses treatment options in layman terms. In fact, upon reading the MRI after my initial visit, he personally called me at home and accelerated my follow up appt. His professional expertise allows him to offer proven treatment options early in the process, allowing the patient to achieve better mobility and reduce or eliminate the pain burden. My only regret is that it took 9 painful years to find him.

Dr shibayama is nothing short of an Angel he has done to one spinal fusion on me he’s operated on me twice and he has a bedside manner of just the most special person in the world is hard to say these things about crying because I think so much of him.

Dr Shibayama is a superb fantastic doctor. I have told everyone about him. I am one year out on lower back surgery and you woukd never know i had surgery!

Dr Kyle Joyner took care of my shoulder surgery and he is great!! He highly recommended Dr Shibayama to me because I’m having trouble with a herniated disc . I saw Dr Shibayama on May 14 and He is exceptional and just simply wonderful . He has a great sense of humor and will explain everything to you to make sure you understand what is going on with your injury and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing help with their spine. He is up front and will help you as fast as he can and wants to help you get better! If you need a spine doctor this is the man to come see!
